Live music is one of the many wonderful things to be enjoyed in Second Life. First-class performers and hard-working managers and hosts deserve our support not only to show our appreciation but also so that our enjoyment can continue.

Where else can we enjoy such excellent live music at such a small cost ? Show your Linden Love !!!

Precious Rallier Celebrates Under the Willows 1st Birthday - Friday 30 September 2011

x
x
The first Anniversary of Under the Willows is only just over a week away now. For Dottie and I Friday nights would not be complete without dropping in to this one of our favourite live music venues to listen to and enjoy at least one of the high quality performers there.

UTW is a beautiful friendly venue at which to enjoy live music :))  A lovely green landscape with wild flowers to dance or sit among, an island stage, streams and ponds of fresh water, the sea and the willows themselves :))

I took the opportunity to ask venue owner and friend Precious Rallier a few honest questions about the background to UTW and about herself :))

GC  Precious the 1 Year Anniversary Celebration of UTW opening is on 30th September !  What have you got planned for us for the party ?

PR  What better way to celebrate a year of great SL live music @ UTW than a walk beneath the willows, but hold on before you do let's make sure you are prepared for an overnight stay. So stay tuned! I'm not giving any clues here !

David Perdu at Guthrie's Folk Club - 6am Wednesday 7 September 2011

x
x
David Perdu has only been performing in Second Life since March 2011 and I first heard him soon after that when he played alongside Russell Eponym his friend and neighbour also from North Wales.  David is a very accomplished and well-established player of classical guitar in the real world, and fast gaining in experience as a performer in Second Life.

David is becoming a frequent performer in SL, sometimes with his SL Partner EsmeRose Melody as lead vocal. On Wednesday he entertained us alone, filling the 6am slot at Guthrie's ... 2pm in the afternoon here in the UK.

Travis Darmoset at Molaskey's Pub - 6pm Monday 29 August 2011

x
x
Travis Darmoset has recently returned to performing in Second Life after a break for the best of reasons, his new baby :))  Born in Kentucky and graduating with a degree in vocal composition at Belmont University, Nashville, Travis plays piano and sings his thoughtful originals and covers in his own cool and gentle style.

Dottie and I heard him for the first time last week at Bree Birke's Nitida Ridge venue.  We were charmed and thrilled by his performance and caught up with him again on Monday at Molaskey's Pub Bonfire Beach.
x

Strum Diesel at Syl Darcy Art Gallery - 3pm Wednesday 24 August 2011

x
x
Strum Diesel was on exceptional form on Wednesday delivering his original songs with passion to a very appreciative audience at Syl Darcy Art Gallery ! I have heard him two or three times before and each time my respect for him as a performer grows !

His songs are full of social comment derived from personal experiences.  His lyrics are full of wit, humour and irreverence, with some serious messages about ridiculous or unacceptable aspects our lives.
x

Paradorn Ansar at Kickin Club - 11am Monday 15 Aug 2011

x
While originating in the Southern United States and Canadian Maritime Provinces the popularity of Country music has spread to many parts of the world.  Paradorn Ansar is a Dutch singer who sings classic Country music very well and with hardly a trace of his Dutch accent :))  Dottie and I caught up with him on Monday at the popular Kickin Club.

Paradorn's song list also includes classics from eg. Bon Jovi, Sting, Robbie Williams, Bob Dylan.  But this show was almost 100% Country and the audience loved it !!
x

Pete Mroz at The Republic - 6pm Wednesday 10 August 2011

x
x
Against all odds and with great tenacity and determination after his investor pulled out, Pete (also known as Pilgrim75 Swashbuckler in SL) on Wednesday celebrated the release of his CD We'll Rise Above !!

Left with a sum of $20,000 to raise to finance the recording, Pete promoted his project with fervour, and with 120 backers ... ordinary people from all walks of life just met the deadline by the skin of his teeth !!

Wednesday's release party was a happy one indeed,  and Pete received the well-deserved congratulations of friends, fellow artists and fans !!

When his investor abandoned him Pete was told he didn't have enough fans to get the financial backing for the recording. It's not his nature to ask for help.  Now 6 or 7 months later, as a result of a team effort by hundreds of people we have this wonderful CD :))

EddieBlue Magic and Alex Mays at Sunset Jazz Club - 7pm Thursday 4 August 2011

x
x
Guitar and saxophone is an unusual combination of instruments.  EddieBlue Magic and Alex Mays combine them and their voices with style to produce a very entertaining bluesy, jazzy, sexy sound.  It was a real treat to hear them in the wonderful and most appropriate setting of the Sunset Jazz Club last Thursday night !

This talented duo are experienced performers in the real world though still a bit new and finding their feet in SL.  They stream from Kalamazoo in SW Michigan ... yes there really is a Kalamazoo !!

Secrets Live Venue Grand Opening - Thursday 4 August 2011

x
x
Wow !!!  I just have to post a few pictures of the new Secrets Live Venue. The design is beautiful !!!

The rich colours of the natural materials and the gorgeous lighting from chinese lanterns suspended among hanging plants up in the large vaulted roofspace create a warm and welcoming ambience equalled in few places elsewhere in Second Life.

The open framework of large wooden beams contains a large hall and intimate stage with views out to the sky and surroundings on all sides.  Nature and people are tempted and brought into it's heart.

Detailing is simple with plants, curtains, some seating and those wonderful hanging lamps adorning the central space.  Whether midday or midnight I absolutely love this place !!!

The Grand Opening was yesterday with more than 16 hours of music.  I listened, danced, enjoyed and applauded the music of Paradorn Ansar and James Corachea.

Congratulations to the designers and builders and all those involved in providing us with this new venue.  I wish it every success !!!

Here is the SLURL to get there.

Al Velvetleaf at The Drunken Drow - 3pm Friday 29 July 2011

x
x
For rock and classic rock Al Velvetleaf is one of the best musicians you will find in Second Life.  He's an all-round musician playing and recording his own drums, keyboards, bass, guitars, to create his own deep, mellow tuneful sounds that most rock musicians would die for !!  With his sweet vocals, his great personality and sense of humour his show is a must !!

On Friday I was lucky to catch his show at The Drunken Drow, one of the oldest  music venues in Second Life.
x

PM Bookmite at Key West Marina and at Nic's House of Tunes - 18 and 20 July 2011

x
x
PM Bookmite, Phillip Mitchell in the real world is a prolific writer and composer of pop, soulful pop, and rock pop songs and music for piano.  He has already released four albums - Soul 2007, Soul II  2008, The Second Act 2010, and Therapy 2010.  You can find his songs from Soul and Soul II on Spotify.  He is a very talented and impressive artist and we are very lucky to have him play for us virtually for free in Second Life !!
x

Dottie and I have heard PM 3 or 4 times now and each time he seems to get better and better !!  ... and more and more confident performing in the SL environment.  Last week we heard him at Sweet Whispers and on Monday night we were thrilled to go along to Key West Marina for more :))

PM streams from Atlanta Georgia.  He plays mostly originals in the Elton John / Ben Folds / Billy Joel vein.  Real world Phillip Mitchell is an english professor, song and prose writer.
x

Zorch Boomhauer and Lexie Luan at Holy Moon - 5pm Thursday 14 July 2011

x
x
This is my second blog posting of the Moonacy Writer Sessions.  This Thursday the event was held in the Church of the Holy Moon again on the Moongrow Farm sim.

Zorch and Lexie

Zorch and Lexie entertained us on voice and acoustic guitar for the first hour of the evening :))  Together they call themselves Kinagree Smith and the full band also includes Ira Segall on drums.  Ira joined them for this session and added his great percussive sounds to the stream, though he has no avatar in SL.  As with all music in the Moonacy Sessions Zorch and Lexie played 100% acoustic originals.
x

TerryLynn Melody at Guthrie's Folk Club - 7 am Saturday 9 July 2011

x
x
TerryLynn Melody is one of the most popular and respected singers in SL. Her Group, Terry's Trouble Makers has 538 members.  On Saturday she played at Guthrie's Folk Club which is one of the best known, hardest working and most popular music venues in SL.  I'm very happy to be able to blog both !

TerryLynn is a professional musician and songwriter streaming from Pensacola, Florida.  She has been featured on National Public Radio, Clear Channel Radio and Fox Television.  She is a truly versatile performer of originals and covers spanning folk, country, rock and blues.  She has won numerous awards for her vocals as well as several songwriting contests.  TerryLynn is very skillful on acoustic guitar and newly proficient on piano - she jokes that she's still learning this instrument :)

SaraMarie Philly Raising Money for Wildfire Victims at Solana's Place - 6pm Wednesday 29th June 2011

x
x
On Thursday June 16th Benski Korhonen of The Frytown Toughs did a show in Second Life.  Soon after that, his family was evacuated from their home due to the raging wildfires in Arizona.  Last Tuesday Benski told me that 94 families had tragically lost their homes thus far, and approximately 16,000 people have had to flee the area, and many more had no idea what they would return home to. The fire was only about 17 % contained and about 5,300 structures remained threatened. The size of the fire totalled 26,956 acres.

Solana Python, Benski's manager had quickly organized a benefit concert for last Wednesday to raise money for the Arizona Monument Fire victims.  Dottie and I were very pleased to be invited to go along and to show our support. Great credit is due to Solana for arranging such a brilliant and entertaining event at such short notice !  Many thanks are due to all the artists who donated their time and energy free for this good cause !!

In fact Solana's Place was well alight with flames erupting everywhere and just one of the many fires would be put out for every 5,000 lindens raised !!

MommaLuv Skytower at NAG, SL8B and Cat's Club Music Circus - 17 to 21 June 2011

x
x
I listened to MommaLuv for the very first time on Friday 17th June at NAG's Festival for Finest Electronic and Progressive Music.  Wow, what a great artist !!!  MommaLuv combines her music, singing, personality and particle-effects to create a brilliant and colourful show !!!  I wasn't in blogging mode but took a few snapshots and knew I had to listen to her again and do a full review later.

MommaLuv's music is mostly originals with a lot of collaborative pieces. Reis and Ald Alter arrived towards the end of Momma's show to sing and play together and perfect their dual streaming.  MommaLuv's American brand of progressive electronica and trip hop, and the Brazilian/Italian style of Reis and Ald are very complementary and very pleasing to listen to together :))
x

The Frytown Toughs at Notes Shack Pub - 1pm Monday 13 June 2011

x
x
Benski Korhonen and sme Resident from south-west USA are fairly new to performing in Second Life. Benski started playing in SL in January 2011 and was joined later by his brother sme.  It sme !!

Dottie and I have heard them once or twice before and enjoyed their sets in the friendly, bohemian atmosphere of The Notes Shack Pub and on Monday I was determined not to miss a chance to blog them :))

Benski on the left and his brother sme Resident

With few resources, Benski playing honkey tonk piano and their somewhat raucous or rowdy voices, they provide a brilliant hour of fun and entertainment singing a mixture of folk and pub standards and playing ragtime classics.  The repartee between the two brothers and regular members of the audience at Notes Shack Pub adds to the fun, and the sometimes rowdy, rude or sarcastic comments from the audience can embarrass, so be ready to cover your ears :)))
x

Gina Gracemount at Aftermath II - 6pm Friday 3 June 2011

x
x
Friday nights are always great for first-class entertainment in SL !!  For those who like a giggle alongside top-quality singing Gina Gracemount's regular show at Aftermath II is a must !!

Although Gina's show started half an hour late after major music stream and teleporting problems at the venue were solved, Gina always packs so much fun, entertainment and gorgeous singing into her shows that the wait only added to our anticipation !!  We were fully rewarded, not only with an extra 10 minutes of fun and laughter at the end before Gina had to leave for another event, but also with Gina's tip off as to why she had to rush off which I will tell you more about below :))

Born in the UK, now living in Florida, Gina Gracemount is an extremely talented singer of jazz and burlesque with a beautiful, sexy, sultry voice which is a real treat for the ears, and an amazing flair for stimulating audience participation and enjoyment.  Gina is certainly up with the very top SL live music performers and entertainers !!
x

Damian Carbenell at THE LUMBERYARD, Dragon Cove - 2pm Friday 27 May 2011

x
x
Damian Carbenell is a very popular and well-established performer in Second Life.  Dottie and I have heard him two or three times before, enjoyed his show each time and been very impressed with his top quality singing and playing.  He's been on my to-blog list for months and last night at last I could be in the right place at the right time.

Damian is a singer song-writer with a dozen originals on his song list, as well as an extensive range of covers of popular pop, rock and soul songs. He sings to his own excellent and tuneful acoustic guitar or piano playing.x

Jesse Ribeiro at Coconut Beach Club - 1pm Friday 20 May 2011

x
x
A singer with fantastic sex-appeal who really brings in and wows the girls is Jesse Ribeiro !!  He's a fellow Gibraltarian and colleague of Wolfie Moonshadow.

Yet again he's another great SL singer who last night I found just by sheer chance !!

Jesse is an accomplished musician in RL and has just recently brought his love for music into SL.  He is a writer, composer, vocalist, and producer who has been singing and playing piano since the age of 7.

His favorite artists include Coldplay, Sting, Stevie Wonder and Gino Vanelli. Living on the Rock of Gibraltar on the border with Spain he sings fluently in spanish as well !x

The Moonacy Writer Sessions at Moon Farm - 5pm Thursday 12 May 2011

x
x
The Moonacy Writer Sessions have a unique format for live music in Second Life.  Each Thursday a string of 6 artists sing all original songs and play acoustic guitar for half an hour each from 5 to 8pm.

Facilitator and driving force behind these events is landowner Moondoggirl Moomintoog based in Nashville.  Also central to the events is Fox Reinsch of IndieSpectrum Radio.  The sole purpose of ISR is to expose more people to the amazing talent of the musicians in Second Life, and to promote their efforts as independent musicians by playing their original works.  ISR simultaneously broadcasts the Sessions every week.
x

Vincent Merricks at Sunset Jazz Club - 5pm Tuesday 10 May 2011

x
x
Vincent Merricks plays centre in Tuesday night's Dream Team between wingers Saint Skytower and Ganjo Mokeev.  The three artists are very complementary with Vincent playing great blues, rock and country between Saint's blues and Ganjo's funk.  I'm sure Vincent won't mind the ice-hockey metaphor :)

Real life Todd Cody has been writing and performing for over 20 years. As a solo performer or with various bands he's played for lodges, bars and lounges in Massachusetts, Arizona and Florida.  He's written songs in many genres including pop, blues and jazz.  Todd plays original songs as well as blues, country, jazz, oldies and rock covers. He plays live guitar on top of his own backing tracks, and sings with and without backing tracks.

Reis and Ald Alter at Bonaire - 2-15pm Saturday 30th April 2011

xx

As soon as I got this notice on Saturday my senses heightened, my heart raced and almost nothing else mattered.  I knew I had to be there !!

"  Unique event today -  2:15pm  - REIS and ALD Alter - In a pre-colombian landscape built for this event with some nice particle effects matching the music.  Only spiritual and deep hypnotic music.  Alternating electronic tunes to pieces sung by Reis from the Afro-Brazilian animistic tradition and the composers Giacinto Scelsi and Aldo Brizzi.  All will be deep, hypnotic, downtempo   "

I have heard brazilian singer Reis and italian composer of electronic music Ald three times before, at Bonaire, and at Fleure's Enchanted Corner.  Each time they had been hugely impressive and it had been a real privilege to be in the audience of such amazingly talented and wonderfully unique artists.  While I found writing this post difficult, because of my minimal knowledge of portuguese and italian and this genre of music, as a listener I can give my thoughts and views as to how it made me feel and how much I enjoyed it.

Krisie Snowdrop at Kickin Club - 10am Saturday 30 April 2011

x
x
A fairly new discovery of ours is lovely Canadian singer,  Krisie Snowdrop, from Edmonton, Alberta.  Krisie is mainly a country artist with a beautifully smooth, melodic voice, which is an absolute pleasure to listen to.  She tells us that in the real world she is a Karaoke Jockey in two local bars, and this comes through into Second Life where she effortlessly creates a friendly and fun party atmosphere.

Krisie has written on her profile that she is a shy Canadian chick just starting out her singing career in SL.  Don't you believe that for a minute !!  She is established, and professional and some of her songs are certainly not shy !!
x

Saint Skytower at Sunset Jazz Club - 4pm Tuesday 26 April 2011

"x

Saint Skytower is an established performer in Second Life, a professional blues, rock and jazz singer in both SL and the real world.  He sings covers to backing tracks and streams live from Washington DC.  On his profile he tells us :))

I'm a mad scientist! ... No really, I'm not kidding.
I make maps.
I am a part-time tree farmer.
I teach at university sometimes.
I'm a grad student.
I'm a rock and roll star!

**<>*Go SAINT Go!  *<>**

Dottie and I have listened to Saint half a dozen times, not only at Sunset Jazz Club on Tuesdays where he is the first of the dream team - Saint, Vincent and Ganjo, but also at Hotlanta Blues on Sunday nights.  His song list is extensive from a number of genres, his show is very entertaining,  and we enjoy it every time !!
x

Jimmyt49 Dukes at Moonshines Rockin' Blues Club - Thursday 21 April 2011

x
x
Dottie and I can't get enough of blues rock and on Thursday night we had the opportunity to go listen to Jimmyt49 Dukes, one of the greats of this genre in Second Life.  Jimmyt is a well-established performer in SL, very talented, very entertaining and very comfortable with his audience.

I'm not sure where Jimmyt is from, certainly the south, Texas or Virginia or somewhere in between y'all :))  He's an awesome guitarist and strong personality full of energy and power.  His voice is gravelly and throaty and full of grit !!  We had heard him twice before, at The Cottonfield, and at Fleure's Enchanted Corner, and now at steamy and swampy Moonshines Rockin' Blues Club, a new venue for us.
x

Kelvinblue Oh at the Cottonfield Stage, Saturday 16th April 2011

There was another great night of blues at the Cottonfield Stage last Saturday night !!  For Dottie and I anything at The Cottonfield Stage is a "must go" event and Skeat had ably organised another great line-up of performers for all to enjoy as follows:

6 PM Tone Uriza
7 PM Dan Lange Diavolo
8 PM Kelvinblue Oh
9 PM Strat Carver
10 PM Tribute to Johnny Winter by Lightening Productions

Dottie had given me great reports of Kelvinblue Oh and he was the one I wanted to blog this time.  Thanks Dottie :))

Born in Houston, Texas, Kelvinblue Oh is a bluesman with his heart in The Delta. His bio tells us that "he does Hendrix and Zydeco among other types of music.  Kevin Allen Navy (Composer, Guitarist and Lead Vocalist) AKA "Kelvinblue Oh" Founder of Knavy and the Blues On The Run Band.  Kelvinblue Oh will rock your venue or event with his amazing mix of electric blues and rock"

The RAILS at The RAILS Nightclub - Wednesday 13th April 2011

x
x
Dottie and I had heard The RAILS twice before, first at Notes Shack Pub on 16th March raising funds for Japan, and then two weeks ago at The RAILS Nightclub.  Both times we found their hybrid indie rock / punk rock music and all original songs extremely good to listen and dance to, and had split our sides laughing at their brilliant repartee !!  Knowing that all four members of the band would be performing together again on Wednesday we happily returned to blog them !!
x

The RAILS, based in Toronto are from the left: Lolly Gladstone (Loulou Rails) on keys and vocals: Jill Garnet (Jenn LadyEvil) on bass guitar and harmonies ; Chops Baxton (Niall Mellors) on drums ; Jeremy Barracuda (Nick Rails) on guitar.  They began to perform in Second Life in Feb 2007. The full band is usually in SL for one show per week, but sometimes Lolly & Jeremy do a duet act too, backed by a vintage Oberheim drum machine.

Mamaa Saiz at The LODGE - Thursday 7 April 2011

x
x
On Thursday night Dottie and I went to listen to a very entertaining new singer at The LODGE, part of The Bluffs Centre for the Arts.  Mamaa Saiz  is a newcomer to performing in SL but he has played around Texas for many years including over a decade with the Kings of Komedy, Bowley and Wilson on the popular North Dallas Greenville Avenue nightlife strip.
x

Mamaa plays acoustic guitar without backing tracks and his music ranges from jazz classics to country and western with some comedy and tear jerkers along the way.  He has been influenced by many musicians including Carlos Jobim, Glen Frye, James Taylor, and more.

Shantu Selene at Fleure's Enchanted Corner - Friday 1 April 2011

x
x
Yesterday a major event was arranged by Fleure at her Enchanted Corner in order to raise funds for Relay For Life which supports efforts to cure cancer. Being April 1st Fleure had called her event Fools for a Cure, and as well as the entertainment provided free by a very talented programme of musical performers Fleure had also put a huge amount of work into constructing an extensive Carnival nearby.  I can testify to the great fun of the Carnival having spent almost an hour battling with and being battered by Dottie on the dodgems and the tremendous fits of laughter which that gave us :)))

x
In the evening I went back to listen to two of the musicians.  First was Elvina Carlucci who was at her most charming and entertaining best - thank you Elvina :))  Later I returned with the intention of blogging a new performer for me - Shantu Selene.

Torben Asp at The Mother Stage - Friday 25 March 2011

x
x
Later on Friday I found an absolutely brilliant concert of electronic music integrated with a particle show, created and performed by Danish composer Torben Asp.

x

Torben has been performing live concerts in Second Life since October 2007. He composes and arranges his own original music with many inputs from a variety of different genres in his compositions.  He wants to create pictures and set us in a certain mood instead of being the next superstar.  He likes to call it Recreative Music.

Torben composes and performs electronic music of an ambient/new age kind.  His musical inspirations are: Sash!, Darude, Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Vivaldi, Mozart and almost every other kind of good music that is around.

Inchino Melson at The Waterfall, Calabria - Friday 25 March 2011

x
x
Last night I went to hear Russell Eponym sing at The Waterfall.  At the end of his wonderful concert he introduced the singer who was to follow him - the beautiful Inchino Melson.  There was a name I hadn't heard before, and so following Russell's advice I stayed to listen.

Chi has been singing and performing and enjoying music since she was 5 years old.  She started her musical training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London but dropped out when given the opportunity to work with some of the greatest musical theatre talents of our time.  The next 15 years involved travelling the globe working in and around theatre, film, television and live pop events.

AM Quar at the Cottonfield Stage - Saturday 19 March 2011

On Saturday there was a great Spring Celebration at the Cottonfield Stage, Mississippi Delta with a Rockin' Night of 5 hours of Live Blues !!!
The formidable line-up of artists for this major event was as follows:

  6 PM   AM Quar
  7 PM   Saint Skytower
  8 PM   Jimmyt49 Dukes
  9 PM   Bluemonk Rau
 10 PM  FacelessAPe Mefusula

AM Quar

I only planned to stay for the first hour of the event with the intention of blogging AM Quar.  In fact I stayed for all of Saint Skytower and the first half of Jimmyt49 Dukes as well, and oh how I wish I could have stayed for it all !!

Circe Broom Celebrates The 5th Anniversary of Sunset Jazz Club !!

x
x
When Circe Broom owner and manager of The Sunset Jazz Club and Laurel Arts Isle mentioned in local chat that the club is five years old this week I couldn't resist the temptation of asking her if she would share with us, not only something about the history of the club, but also some of the secrets of her success.

Circe Broom at Sunset Jazz Club

I am very grateful indeed that Circe agreed to take time out from her busy schedule to give this interview.

James Corachea Raising Funds for Japan at Notes Shack Pub - Wednesday 16 March 2011

I first heard James Corachea last Sunday at Bonaire where NAG were holding their Guitar Players Fingerpicking Day.  It was immediately obvious that I was listening to real talent and very skilled and imaginative acoustic guitar playing of the finest quality !!  Yet again I was struck by how much good music there is to discover in Second Life, how easy it is to miss it and how lucky I had been to discover this formidable artist just by pure chance !!

James comes from the windswept rugged coast of Cornwall, UK.  He is a young up-and-coming acoustic guitarist who is among a small handful of those who explore the boundaries of the guitar's techniques to the full.

Having arrived part way through James' gig I was determined to go and listen to him again, and so Dottie and I headed to Notes Shack Pub on Wednesday.
x

Thom Silverfall at The LODGE - Tuesday 15 March 2011

Thom Silverfall is fairly new to live music in Second Life.  His audiences are still relatively small, his diary is almost empty, and his Group - Thom Silverfall Fans which was founded only this month still has only a handful of members.

Now Dottie and I have listened to a lot of artists in Second Life, and time only allows us to blog the best.  Some only get one chance to make a good impression and, in other cases my Time Zone SLT +8 makes it pretty difficult for me to stay awake long enough to blog them !!  Last night I was happy to stay up late to go along to The LODGE @ The Bluffs Center for the Arts and listen to Thom for the second time.  Why,  because he's a first class singer, a first class musician, he's fun and a great entertainer !!

Thom has been performing at The LODGE The Bluffs Center for the Arts since February this year. He performs his own unique originals as well as popular cover songs, using a mix of guitars, synthesizers, looped sequences, computer effects and more. Everything is mixed and triggered live, with smooth vocals, soaring guitar solos, driving beats and sweet ballads. You'll hear everything from House to Trance to Blues to Pop to Jazz and Country.

Elvina Carlucci at Fleure's Enchanted Corner - Saturday 12 March 2011

.
French singer / songwriter / acoustic guitarist Elvina Carlucci gave her weekly concert at Fleure's Enchanted Corner last night.  Elvi jokes that she's a woman first - she wants our hearts and our money :))  Listen to her passionate singing of songs about loneliness, war, rejection and emptiness and you soon realise there's much more to Elvi than that.

Elvi streams from Paris.  She plays covers and originals and enjoys singing songs from a wide variety of genres including soft rock and ballads. She sings songs from Ben Harper, Mylène Farmer, Bob Dylan and many more.
.

Andreus Gustafson at Starport Omega - Tuesday 8 March 2011

On Tuesday night Dottie and I were treated to the excellent and talented singing and playing of Andreus (Anj) Gustafson streaming live music from his home in Oak Ridge Tennessee to Starport Omega.

Keyboardist / guitarist / flautist / vocalist Anj Gustafson has been performing in real life for many years.  He has toured the USA, Japan and Korea in cover bands since the late 1980's, and since the summer of 2007 has been performing in Second Life.  He has a wide taste in music drawing on multiple styles including pop, alternative and progressive rock to sing popular covers and originals with something for everyone.

Russell Eponym and the Eponymous Family - March 2011

The subject of my first post of this year, on 1st January in fact, was Russell Eponym's concert at Alora Bay.  I was a wee bit shy in those days as that was only my 2nd blog post ever.  Looking at it now it seems a very brief record of a wonderful concert, and incomplete because it says little about the real Russell Eponym apart from already published information.

So now two months later a couple of people have suggested that I should interview some of the artists I am writing about,  to give them a chance to tell it from their point of view,  and to develop my blog further by giving it greater depth and interest.  Blogging live music in SL is a great learning experience for me and I greatly appreciate the fact that Russell agreed to help me by taking time out from his busy schedule to talk about his work.

Russell Invites XUO xue on Stage
Fleure's Enchanted Corner 6 March 2011

fran6 Parkin at Bonaire - Thursday 3 March 2011

France has a great tradition and wealth of classical, folk and popular music. It continues to produce excellent music sometimes now based on styles played by immigrants from Africa, Latin America and Asia.  I have often wanted to find french live music in SL and last night I received a notice from the NAG Group which led me to their stage at Bonaire.

There fran6 Parkin entertained us with what he calls his jazzy french touch. Fran is a french songwriter and composer, performing in both SL and real life.
He plays live all original music on guitar, keyboard and loop station.  He sings mostly in french with a few words of english.
