Andreus Gustafson at Starport Omega - Tuesday 8 March 2011

On Tuesday night Dottie and I were treated to the excellent and talented singing and playing of Andreus (Anj) Gustafson streaming live music from his home in Oak Ridge Tennessee to Starport Omega.

Keyboardist / guitarist / flautist / vocalist Anj Gustafson has been performing in real life for many years.  He has toured the USA, Japan and Korea in cover bands since the late 1980's, and since the summer of 2007 has been performing in Second Life.  He has a wide taste in music drawing on multiple styles including pop, alternative and progressive rock to sing popular covers and originals with something for everyone.

.

For his first three pieces he played keyboard and began with The Verve's Bitter Sweet Symphony

Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this life...
Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down...
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah

Next came another british band - Coldplay with Speed of Sound

Look up, I look up at night,
Planets are moving at the speed of light.
Climb up, up in the trees,
every chance that you get,
is a chance you seize.
How long am I gonna stand,
with my head stuck under the sand?
I'll start before I can stop,
before I see things the right way up

Yes, we were in Starport Omega :))  Music and place fitted together brilliantly.

His third piece was a pleasant light original Our Turn

He changed to electric guitar for an instrumental version of Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. Mystical, ethereal and atmospheric suiting our location among the stars.

Enough of the mystical it was time to rock with Teenage Wasteland !!! Written by Pete Townshend for The Who it's published title is Baba O'Riley

Sally, take my hand
We'll travel south crossland
Put out the fire
And don't look past my shoulder
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together
Before we get much older

Behind Blue Eyes - another song by The Who followed.  Wow where would the world be without british rock !!!

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes.
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies.

More rock followed with Sharp Dressed Man by Texan band ZZ Top :))

In mid-concert Anj had an audience of 37 people.  Great music, great artist, great place !!

Music by another Texan followed with Standing on Shaky Ground by Delbert McClinton.  Slightly more funky and Starport Omega was really throbbing !!

After another great instrumental on electric guitar Anj switched to acoustic and began with South Carolina's Edwin McCabe's song I'll Be

And I'll be your cryin' shoulder
I'll be love suicide
And I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life
