Cypress Rosewood at Fleure's Enchanted Corner - Sunday 27 February 2011

Cypress Rosewood is a well-established, very creative, skilled and professional performer of ambient and electronic music.  On Sunday he gave his monthly show in front of a very appreciative audience at Fleure's Enchanted Corner, and simultaneously in the InWorldz virtual world.

Fleure's notice for the event said " Come gently start your Sunday with the healing sounds of Cypress' flutes, guitars and synthesizers " Yes Fleure :)) healing and gently are perfect descriptive words here.

.
Real life Tony Gerber was voted "Best Ambient Artist of SL" for the 2009 Stream Scene Awards.  He describes himself as a hybrid elf with bloodlines from Elf, Dragon & human of the Native American kind, a time traveller currently researching his family heritage.

Tony Gerber has a recording studio in Nashville.
He collaborates with John Rose and Diane Timmons in the band
Spacecraft

Tony wrote on the Spacecraft website " The past 7 years has delivered some significant shifts to our life experience. On a personal level as well as our cultural experience on a social level. I started a family and have a beautiful 4 year old daughter which changed my dynamic and has caused a rebalancing of energies and time. Part of that rebalance has been music creation in the virtual world. Second Life is a virtual world platform that has enabled us to do live performances even if we are not all together in the same room. And these virtual events can take place in the comfort and convenience of our own home studio. Needless to say the advantages are very obvious and as a musical dad, this has been blessing and part of the new balance for me. "

Wikipedia defines ambient music as a musical genre in which the timbral characteristics of sounds (tone quality and colour) are organised to evoke an atmospheric, unobtrusive or visual quality.  Yes :)) atmospheric and unobtrusive are excellent descriptors for Cypress's music.

Cypress started with a piece using acoustic guitar.  Words and phrases which I noted down during the piece were:

mysterious, starts calmly, bubbling, chanting almost buddhist, flute, slow, sea washing on the shore, melodic, tinkling, ethereal.

Fleure's Enchanted Corner always seems to attract interesting and unusual avatars and costumes.  The calmness allowed me the space to record some of them .....

...... and to read this from Cypress's profile:

A new land brings friends a many,
imagination fuels thoughts a plenty,
total freedom in this virtual land,
that I may offer my musical hand.
One Heart, One Love, One Destination.

There was time and calmness and serenity to read from the profiles of others:

..... I am an impulsive, helpful and kind Faelf, unless someone is very rude
..... love to race - especially seal sleds
..... I am a Reiki healer/ teacher

..... If the love within your mind is lost and you see other beings as enemies, then no matter how much knowledge or education or material comfort you have, only suffering and confusion will ensue

..... Every fall strengthens me, each betrayal makes me stronger, every gossip makes me more important :))

Half way through the performance there were 26 in the audience.

In his second piece he used an electronic guitar.  Again it was mysterious and mystical, now with rushing sounds and light percussion. Very cool and meditative.

Hmm looks familiar !!

Out of the masses of applause, thank yous and appreciative comments at the end of his show this one sums it up for me -

  ?(`'·.¸(`'·.¸ * ¸.·'´)¸.·'´)?
   ´·.¸¸.•Simply Beautiful•.¸¸.·`
  ?(¸.·'´(¸.·'´ * `'·.¸)`'·.¸)?

Cypress left us with -
" Love and Light :)) "

Thank you Fleure :)
